BIO: Jeff Kroot
Jeff graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in architecture. Early in his career, Jeff obtained a General Contractor’s license and designed and built five private homes which further deepened his understanding of the process of home construction. Jeff opened his architectural office in San Anselmo in 1975 and since then has designed hundreds of new homes, commercial projects, as well as residential additions and remodels throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the State of California. Jeff is a committed community member and served for nine years on the San Anselmo Planning Commission as well as sixteen years as a member of the Town Council including two terms as Mayor.
Jeff’s design philosophy has multiple goals including creating architecture of the highest aesthetic standard that fits comfortably on its site and within its neighborhood. Jeff designs to meet his client’s needs, budget and aesthetic taste as well creating buildings that are economical to build, use sustainable materials where possible and are energy efficient. Ultimately, Jeff’s goal is to create architecture that people respond to because it is more than just a house — it is a home.
